Grand Theft Auto Papercraft

Igrandtheftauto.com has the self-confessed goal of becoming the ultimate resource for all things to do with the Grand Theft Auto series of video games. They just might be the ultimate resource for GTA papercraft as well! Pictured above are four of eighteen different paper models based on the Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars video game. Clockwise from the upper left corner are models of the Infernus, the Sabre GT, the Stallion, and my personal favorite, the Sum Yung Gai Noodle Van. The selection of GTA papercraft available includes not only cars but display stands for the cars, a dragon costume, character models, and weapon models. Check them all out here.

Tron Legacy Papercraft: Clu Identity Disc

I have finished my third Tron: Legacy papercraft. This is the identity disc weapon of Clu, the main bad guy in the movie. Clu is the only character in the movie to have a dark yellow color highlighting his costume and identity disc. The 1:1 scale template for Clu's disc may be downloaded here. Looking ahead, I have gotten several requests to do Kevin Flynn's white identity disc, but I don't know if I can produce a papercraft version that will do it justice. We shall see... just don't hold your breath. ^^

Thor Movie Papercraft: Mjolnir

In Marvel Comics' new Thor movie, the god of thunder's war hammer Mjolnir is given a more ornate look than the comic book version of the weapon. My friend George at the Behold the Geek! blog took it upon himself to create a full scale paper model of the movie version of the hammer. George based the construction of his hammer on my own 1:1 scale Mjolnir papercraft. The template for the movie Mjolnir is available here. Note: 11x17 size paper or cardstock is required to build the hammer full size.

Full Scale Thor Hammer Papercraft

Ever since I released a 1/2 scale Mjolnir paper model back in 2008 I have gotten requests to make a full scale version of the hammer. So to celebrate the release of the new Thor movie this week, I am finally honoring those requests and releasing a 1:1 scale version of my original Thor hammer papercraft. When I created the original model I attempted to make it the "official" size according to Marvel Comics. The full scale model may seem a little large at 21" (53 cm) long, but you have to remember that this is the weapon of a 6'-6" (2 m) tall, 650 lb (295 Kg) Norse god. ^^ The full size template for Mjolnir may be downloaded here.

Tron Legacy Papercraft: Rinzler Identity Disc

I got the urge to create another papercraft from the Tron:Legacy movie. ^^ This is the identity disc of Rinzler. Rinzler is bad guy Clu's top enforcer and apparently the only program capable of wielding two identity discs in battle (see animation below). Like my earlier Sam's Identity Disc papercraft, this is a tough one to build. Lined and unlined templates are available here. A build of the unlined template constructed without folds is shown in the photo above.

Tron Legacy Papercraft: Sam's Identity Disc

Given the fact that I have done papercraft identity discs for every other major character in the Tron universe, you knew it was just a matter of time before I did a paper model of Sam Flynn's identity disc from the upcoming Tron: Legacy movie. ^^ Sam is the son of Kevin Flynn, the lead character in the original Tron movie. Here are some scenes of the disc in action (with some Daft Punk music for atmosphere ^^):

Unlike the previous identity discs I did, which were 1:2 scale, this identity disc is full size. Although the disc may look pretty simple, but it is actually a fairly difficult build. There are two templates in the download, one with folding guide lines and one without. In the photo is my test build of the unlined template built without any folds. If the disc is built with folds I would give the difficulty level a 4 out of 5. Building without folds, I would give it a difficulty level of 5 out of 5! The finished disc is 10" (25 cm) across and 1" (2.5 cm) thick at the widest part. The PDF templates for the disc are available here.

World of Warcraft Orc Catapult Papercraft

If I am not mistaken, this WoW papercraft is a catapult of the orc clan known as Dragonmaw. At only 4" (11 cm) tall, the model might be small enough to be used as miniature gaming prop. The template for the catapult was created by Freddy Patzi of Bolivia and may be downloaded here.

Reborn! Anime Papercraft: Box Weapons & Rings

The Reborn! anime series follows the trials of an Italian mafia family by the name "Vongola". In the show, Tsuna, the last male heir of the Vongola family, is trained by an infant assassin so he may one day take his place as the boss of the family. The mafia assassins in the show make use of "box weapons" that may only be activated by using a corresponding ring. These papercraft versions of the weapons are the work of deviantART member "Desubunny". The box weapon templates may be found here, while the ring templates are available here.

Kingdom Hearts Papercraft: Yuffie's Shuriken

I took a break from some of the more complicated papercraft projects I have in progress and put together this simple papercraft based on a 3D model from the Kingdom Hearts 1 video game. The character Yuffie first appeared as a secret character in the Final Fantasy VII video game. In Kingdom Hearts, one notable difference in Yuffie's appearance compared to her FFVII appearance is that her shuriken weapon is much smaller. For this papercraft version of her KH shuriken I tried to make the finished size as close as possible to how it appears in the video game. The template info is as follows:

Scale: 1:1 (estimated)
Finished size: 12" (30.5 cm) tip to tip
Number of pages: 2
Number of parts: 5
Difficulty: 2/5
Download

Star Trek Papercraft: Hirogen Shuriken

For lack of a better term, I call this weapon a "shuriken", although at 12" (30.5 cm) from tip to tip it is way larger than most real shurikens. In the Star Trek Voyager Elite Force video game this object appears on a wall of weapons inside a Hirogen starship. The Hirogen are an ancient nomadic alien species whose culture revolves around "the hunt". The weapons displayed on the weapon walls inside their ships are those used for the final kill of the wounded prey at the end of the hunt. Papercraft template info is as follows:

Scale: 1:1 (estimated)
Finished Size: 12" (30.5 cm) across
Number of sheets: 3
Number of parts: 12
Difficulty: 4/5
Download

I have numerous works in progress for Elite Force papercraft, but I am finding that the more complex 3D models are taking a significant amount of editing in order to make them papercraft ready. This may slow down how often I am able to release Star Trek models in the future. Those video game designers just aren't always thinking about papercraft when they design their 3D models. ^^

Marvel Papercraft: Captain America's Shield

I was a little bummed two years ago when Marvel Comics killed off the original Captain America, Steve Rogers. However, as you may know, this month Marvel is bringing Rogers back in a five issue limited series entitled Captain America: Reborn. To celebrate, I did a recolor of my Tron Disc template to create a papercraft model that represents the good Captain's shield set in a stone base. Hope you enjoy it.

Scale: 1:6
Finished Size: 8.5" (21.6 cm)
Number of sheets: 2
Number of parts: 9
Difficulty: 2/5

Tron 2.0 Papercraft: Jet's Identity Disc

This is my third and final Tron identity disc papercraft. This disc, which is from the Tron 2.0 video game, has a more elaborate pattern than the discs I did previously. The owner of this identity disc is Jet Bradley, the playable character in the game. Jet is not a computer program like most characters in the game, but a human who has been teleported into the computer world. Jet's father, Alan Bradley, was the programmer who created the program known as "Tron".

Template Info
Scale: estimated between 1:2 and 1:3
Finished Size: 8.5"(21.6 cm)
Number of sheets: 2
Number of parts: 9
Difficulty: 2/5

Tron Papercraft: Sark's Identity Disc

I finally got around to finishing the companion to the Tron's Identity Disc papercraft I posted two weeks ago. This is the identity disc of Tron's enemy, Sark. In the original Tron movie, heros are colored blue while villians are colored red, so the red color of Sark's disc identifies him as a villian. In addition to the original movie, Sark is a boss in the Space Paranoids world of the Kingdom Hearts II video game. Albeit a little fuzzy, here is a taste of how he appears in the game:

Scale: estimated between 1:2 and 1:3

Tron's Identity Disc Papercraft

Back in January after I posted my Tron Bit papercraft I got a request to do some Tron identity disc papercraft. Today I am finally delivering! The 3D model used to create this papercraft was taken from the Tron 2.0 video game. I created a disc texture to match Tron's own identity disc as it appeared in the original movie. Other disc models I am planning on posting in the future are Sark's identity disc and Jet's identity disc from Tron 2.0. The the disc base is my own design and is intended to match the bases that go with the Bits. In the Tron universe identity discs have multiple functions including offensive weapon, defensive weapon, and data storage device. Here is Tron making use of his disc in battle:

Here is the papercraft template info:

Scale: estimated between 1:2 and 1:3
Finished Size: 8.5"(21.6 cm)

Marvel Papercraft - Blink's Quiver

I have been a fan of the Marvel Comics superhero Blink since she first appeared in X-Men Alpha in 1995. Blink has the ability to create teleportation portals. She can also channel her teleportation energy into small javelins which when thrown at a target cause the target to be teleported to another location. A supply of javelins is usually carried in a quiver on her back. This papercraft is my vision of Blink's quiver. Typically the javelins in her quiver are grey, but I chose to make the javelins in this model the more recognizable brilliant pink color the javelins take on when they are charged with Blink's energy. The papercraft template info is as follows:

Scale: 1:3
Finished Size: 7" (18 cm)
Number of sheets: 3
Number of parts: 16
Difficulty: 3/5

Marvel Papercraft - Mjolnir, Thor's Hammer

I have finished my second papercraft design! This model is of Mjolnir, the weapon of the Marvel Comics superhero Thor. The character of Thor was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and is based loosely on the god of thunder of the same name from Norse mythology. Mjolnir, among other things, enables Thor to fly, summon lightning, and create interdimensional portals. Rumor has it that a Thor movie will be released in 2010. Let's hope it will be as good as Marvel's Ironman was in 2008.

Template Info
Scale: 1:2
Finished Size: 5 1/2" (14 cm) x 10 1/4" (26 cm)
Number of sheets: 3

Number of parts: 7
Difficulty: 3/5
