Stitch's Ray Gun Papercraft

The Disney character Stitch (from the 2002 animated movie Lilo & Stitch) appears in the Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep video game for PSP. Also called "Experiment 626", Stitch sometimes makes use of a ray gun. This paper model of Stitch's ray gun is based on a 3D model from KHBBS. The gun is full scale and measures about 7"(17.8 cm) in length. The two page, eight piece template for this papercraft may be downloaded here. I hope to be able to do some more Birth by Sleep papercraft in coming months, so stay tuned!

Rat Chef Origami

Here is a delightful origami piece by Nguyen Hung Cuong which he calls "Rat Chef" (an homage to Disney Pixar's Ratatouille perhaps? ^^). The rat, the chef hat and the spoon were each folded from separate piece of paper. The folding pattern for the rat (spoon and hat not included) may be downloaded from Cuong's page here.

Winnie the Pooh Hunny Pot Papercraft

When I first started working on this papercraft of Pooh Bear's hunny pot, I had no idea that a new Winnie the Pooh movie was being released by Disney, but I am happy to be able to offer this model the same week as the opening of the movie in the US. This paper model is based on a 3D model from the Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep game for the PSP video game system. The finished piece stands about 5" (12.7 cm) tall. A download of the PDF template for the hunny pot is available here.

Tron Legacy Papercraft: Clu Identity Disc

I have finished my third Tron: Legacy papercraft. This is the identity disc weapon of Clu, the main bad guy in the movie. Clu is the only character in the movie to have a dark yellow color highlighting his costume and identity disc. The 1:1 scale template for Clu's disc may be downloaded here. Looking ahead, I have gotten several requests to do Kevin Flynn's white identity disc, but I don't know if I can produce a papercraft version that will do it justice. We shall see... just don't hold your breath. ^^

KH2 Papercraft: Port Royal Treasure Chest

This is my papercraft treasure chest offering for the month of May. It is the fourth chest in my ongoing series. As you may know, each area in the Kingdom Hearts 2 video game is based on a different Disney movie. This treasure chest is located in the Port Royal area of the game which is based on the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. Your ally in that area of the game is none other than Captain Jack Sparrow! The template for the Port Royal treasure chest may be downloaded here.

KH2 Papercraft: 100 Acre Wood Treasure Chest

Here is Chest #2 in my ongoing series of Kingdom Hearts 2 treasure chest paper models. My goal is to release one treasure chest a month with a final total of fourteen chests. This treasure chest appears in the 100 Acre Wood area of the video game. The 100 Acre Wood is, of course, where Winnie the Pooh and his companions live. The graphic style of Pooh and friends in the video game corresponds to Disney's version of the characters rather than the original book illustrations by E. H. Shepard. Lined and un-lined PDF templates for the chest are available here.

KH1 Cave of Wonders Ape Statue Papercraft

In the Agrabah (Disney Aladdin) area of the Kingdom Hearts 1 video game, the player must enter the "Cave of Wonders". Among other things inside the Cave of Wonders are statues of apes holding enormous gems. This paper model is of one of those statues. The build photo above is by TouchFuzzyGetDizzy, the designer of the papercraft. He has made his Pepakura PDO template for the statue available on DeviantART.

KH2 Aladdin Treasure Chest Papercraft

This is the first of numerous Kingdom Hearts 2 treasure chest paper models I hope to release over the course of the coming year. In the KH2 video game there are both large and small treasure chests to be found. This large treasure chest (which I call the "Aladdin treasure chest") can be found in the Agrabah area, a location taken from the Disney movie, Aladdin. The finished papercraft model of the treasure chest measures 3" L x 2.75" W x 3" H (7.6 cm x 7 cm x 7.6 cm). I found when I did my test build that the model was sturdy enough to maybe be used as a gift box (for something really small like a piece of jewelry). The image above is a 3D render to show the textures on the inside and outside of the chest. A download of the two page, six piece template is located here.

Tron Legacy Papercraft: Rinzler Identity Disc

I got the urge to create another papercraft from the Tron:Legacy movie. ^^ This is the identity disc of Rinzler. Rinzler is bad guy Clu's top enforcer and apparently the only program capable of wielding two identity discs in battle (see animation below). Like my earlier Sam's Identity Disc papercraft, this is a tough one to build. Lined and unlined templates are available here. A build of the unlined template constructed without folds is shown in the photo above.

Pixar Papercraft: Carl's House Miniature

This miniature papercraft of Carl's house from the 2009 Disney Pixar movie Up is not your usual paper model. First, it is built with three different weights of cardboard and paper. Second, it is hand painted instead of making use of a computer printer for color. If you feel adventurous enough to attempt building one of these yourself, the creator of the house, Michal Miszta, has graciously provided a copy of his template here.

Official Tron Legacy Lightcycle Paper Models

Disney has added two more lightcycles to their collection of 3D Tron papercraft! On top is Kevin Flynn's personal lightcycle, said in the Tron: Legacy movie to be "the fastest on the grid". Below that is the lightcycle belonging to Flynn's archenemy, CLU. The templates for the lightcycles may be downloaded here and here. Previous official Tron papercraft by Disney included Sam Flynn's lightcycle and a recognizer.

The new Tron: Legacy movie will be released tomorrow in the US! Here's a custom Tron cubee by randyfivesix at DeviantART. Disney Papercraft: Atlantis Crystal

Atlantis: The Lost Empire was the first Disney animated film to have a Science Fiction theme. In the movie, a group of early twentieth century explorers locate the lost city of Atlantis. The inhabitants of Atlantis are found to wear necklaces with blue energy crystals which they use to power various machines in their city. The papercraft template for this Atlantean energy crystal was created by Mike at Biosocket.com for his kids who wanted a toy crystal after watching the movie. The template may be downloaded here. Tron Legacy Papercraft: Sam's Identity Disc

Given the fact that I have done papercraft identity discs for every other major character in the Tron universe, you knew it was just a matter of time before I did a paper model of Sam Flynn's identity disc from the upcoming Tron: Legacy movie. ^^ Sam is the son of Kevin Flynn, the lead character in the original Tron movie. Here are some scenes of the disc in action (with some Daft Punk music for atmosphere ^^):

Unlike the previous identity discs I did, which were 1:2 scale, this identity disc is full size. Although the disc may look pretty simple, but it is actually a fairly difficult build. There are two templates in the download, one with folding guide lines and one without. In the photo is my test build of the unlined template built without any folds. If the disc is built with folds I would give the difficulty level a 4 out of 5. Building without folds, I would give it a difficulty level of 5 out of 5! The finished disc is 10" (25 cm) across and 1" (2.5 cm) thick at the widest part. The PDF templates for the disc are available here.

Disney Papercraft: Eden's Genie Bottle

I made this genie bottle papercraft as a favor to my DeviantART friend, Fractaljinn. Fractaljinn wanted a papercraft model of the bottle of a female genie named Eden who is a character in the Aladdin animated television series by Disney. The series ran from 1994 to 1995. You may notice that the papercraft bottle doesn't have a handle like the one in the image from the TV show. Although a handle is included as part of the template, I sort of liked the way the bottle looked without it, so I didn't attach it when I did my test build. As a convenience to Fractaljinn who resides in Europe, the template was created for A4 size paper, so if you are printing on US Letter size paper you will need to use the "scale to fit" option. If printing on A4 paper, the finished bottle is roughly 40cm (15.75") tall. Another feature of the bottle is that the stopper is removable. Because the majority of the construction of the bottle is done by curving pieces of card stock, I give this a difficulty level of 4 out of 5. The PDF template for the bottle may be downloaded here.
