Electrobinoculars of some sort or another have appeared in every Star Wars movie except for Episode VI. According to Starwars.com, electrobinoculars are:"...handheld imaging devices used to view objects from a considerable distance. The sophisticated device displays images with an overlay of computerized information detailing the object's distance, relative and true azimuths, and elevation."
These 1:1 scale papercraft electrobinoculars are based on a 3D model from the Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy video game. The template for this paper model may be downloaded here. This is my second Star Wars papercraft, look for more in the future. :)

Here's a paper model of a communicator reminiscent of the ones used in the original Star Trek television series from the 60's. Purists will recognize that this model is not exactly like the original communicator props, but it is still a lot of fun to build, especially considering that it only has two parts (believe it or not!) The communicator template was created in Coreldraw by DeviantART member Frohickey and may be downloaded from his gallery.

The original Transformers animated television show ran from 1984 to 1987. In the show, the Autobots' base of operations was a massive spaceship known as the Ark. The Ark was operated by a semi-sentient computer named Teletraan I. Mandingo Rex of the Tformers forum has created a detailed papercraft version of Teletraan I for use as a prop with Transformer toys. A download of the Teletraan template is available here. Also available are printable sheets of wall and floor panels to build a diorama of the interior of the Ark.

The first personal computer I can remember working with was a 1984 Macintosh 128K by Apple. The Macintosh was the first commercially successful computer to feature a mouse and a graphical user interface. The tiny (by today's standards) black and white monitor was built in. The one piece template for this cute mini paper version of the original Mac is located here at this Japanese blog. Happy building!

It has been a very, very long time since I have watched an episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but I do remember the power morpher belt buckles they had with the dino power coins. "It's morphin time! Mastodon!" A member of the Rangerboard forum known as "TheGreenRanger" has created this papercraft version of the dino buckler morpher. The template for the buckler includes all six dino coins so you can build whatever version you wish. The five parts of the template are here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. There are very few gluing tabs and no instructions, so you are on your own when it comes to assembling it. One final note: unlike the photo which is a template customization by "Robo_117", the original template is labeled "Zyuranger" after the Japanese version of the show.

A scouter is a device commonly worn by soldiers in the Dragon Ball Z animated series. Scouters perform numerous functions including power level readings of opponents and interstellar communication. The papercraft scouter pictured above is a modification by deviantART member Ryo007 of a template located here. Ryo007's version has a larger lens than the original and may be downloaded here.

Here is my contribution to the collection of free Halloween papercraft on the Internet this year: a guillotine! I had downloaded a 3D model of a bloody guillotine by designer "Smirnoffka" earlier this year thinking I might do a papercraft of it sometime and finally decided it would work best as a Halloween papercraft. I chose to scale the guillotine to the size of a Barbie doll because there was something just so ironic and disturbing about associating smiling Barbie with a gruesome instrument of death. :) Here are the details of the template: Scale: 1:6Finished Size: 12.5" (31.8 cm) heightNumber of sheets: 3Number of parts: 18 Difficulty: 3/5 DownloadNote: No Barbies were harmed in the making of this papercraft. :)

Here's another papercraft from the Star Trek Voyager Elite Force video game. This is the medical tricorder and scanner used by Starfleet medical personnel in the game, including the Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH) doctor. Like the Starfleet PADD papercraft I did previously, the textures on this model are a little too grainy for my liking, but since I thought this model would interest enough people I went ahead and posted it. If I had the time, I would pull the PDF into Photoshop and redo the textures. The template info is as follows:Scale: 1:1 Finished Size: * Tricorder - 3.5" (8.9 cm) x 8" (20.3 cm) * Scanner - 4" (10.2 cm) Number of sheets: 2Number of parts: 6 Difficulty: 1/5 DownloadA while back, I had a request to do a standard Starfleet tricorder papercraft, but I found that the 3D model in Elite Force is really rough and doesn't look much like the tricorders from the Voyager television show. So, unfortunately, this medical version is the best I will be able to do in the way of tricorder papercraft.Previous Star Trek papercraft posts: Hirogen ShurikenTerran Empire Knife Starfleet PADD Klingon Knife Hypospray Borg Cube

Parts of the Tron 2.0 video game take place in the "real world" as opposed to the electronic world inside a computer, so there are 3d models in the game of real world people and items. I think this gas mask appears in a scene in a laboratory. I chose to label this papercraft model "Steampunk" instead of "Tron" because of the way it is styled and also because it just wasn't all that Tron-like. ^^ The finished model is sized to be wearable but as the paper strap is not elastic you will need to modify the strap in some way if you want to be able to take it on and off. Adding velcro to the paper strap or replacing the paper strap with a real elastic band are possibilities. Here is the template info:Scale: 1:1Finished Size: 4.5" (11.4 cm) height (not including strap) Number of sheets: 2 Number of parts: 7 Difficulty: 2/5 Download

Another Star Trek papercraft is finished. This is the Elite Force video game's version of a Starfleet "personal access display device" or PADD for short. Think of it as a hand held computer interface. I made this papercraft 1:2 scale rather than 1:1 scale like the previous Star Trek device models because it was just too floppy at 1:1 scale and also the model's texture is somewhat grainy and looks better at a smaller scale. Here is the template info:Scale: 1:2 Finished Size: 3" (7.6 cm) x 4.5" (11.5 cm) Number of sheets: 1 Number of parts: 8 Difficulty: 1/5Download Previous Star Trek papercraft posts: Klingon KnifeHypospray Borg Cube

In the Stars Wars universe, holocrons are crystal-lattice devices into which both the Jedi and the Sith record their experiences and knowledge for future generations. Jedi holocrons come in a variety of geometric shapes, while Sith holocrons are typically pyramids. This cube shaped Jedi holocron papercraft is the work of "Exxos" who modeled it after a holocron which appears in the Tales of the Jedi series of comic books by Dark Horse Comics. A PDF template is available here at Exxos' DeviantART page, but be forewarned that (other than the above photograph) there are no instructions included.
UPDATE 6/14/2010: Exxos' DeviantART page has apparently been deleted. An alternate download location for the template may be found here.
