From Illustrator Von Glitschka comes a humorous paper toy for the holidays: the 4th Not So Wiseman. As the story goes...You've heard of the three wisemen, but never the fourth. See, he didn't do so well as far as a gift-giving went. Instead of gold, frankincense or myrrh, he stopped at the dollar store for coal. Let's just say that a very special baby in a manger was not so impressed.

This limited edition Santa Claus paper toy is being offered by the Mister Black Tee t-shirt company during the 2010 holiday season. The style of this Santa matches the company's trademark t-shirt graphics. Also available is a paper toy of the company's logo which looks a whole lot like Mr. T. ^^ Both toys are available here.
According to the instructions for this Christmas ornament papercraft, this winged reindeer is none other than Comet, one of Santa's eight reindeer. Ohh, so that's how they fly! ;) This papercraft reindeer was created by artist Shane McDermott for the 2009 holiday season and may be downloaded here.
In 2007, the BBC offered a free download of a papercraft Doctor Who Christmas ornament. The ornament is of one of the angelic looking service robots known as the "Heavenly Host" from the Doctor Who episode entitled Voyage of the Damned. Despite their "holy" appearance, the robots can be deadly, their halos being used as throwing weapons. A download of the template for the ornament is still available here.
These geometric Christmas light covers are the work of the "playful.geometer" at Flickr. The five different covers are based on the five shapes of the Platonic Solids. The lovely patterns on each of the solids are "kaleidoscoped" fractal images. I like the paper lantern effect these have when they are lit up. Templates for each of the five are available here and here. If you are interested in creating your own decorative patterns, a educational math website has some blank Platonic Solid templates available here.
These three papercraft buildings are but a sampling of forty eight different free printable models offered online by a primary school located in the German state of Saxony. The school uses these models during the holiday season to create a miniature Christmas village. Each of the models is of a building that actually existed (or perhaps currently exists) in the town where the school is located. According to the school's website the scale of these model buildings are appropriate for use with N and Z scale model railroads. The papercraft templates may be downloaded here.
Both the 2005 and 2006 Christmas specials of the Doctor Who television show feature robot Santas. The robot Santas are villains who arm themselves with musical instruments that double as weapons. Their trombones fire mortar shells, their trumpets fire bullets and their tubas are capable of being used as flamethrowers! This 2D printable paper mask is by Peter McKinstry and is based on the robot Santas as they appeared in the 2006 special which is titled "The Runaway Bride". A download of the mask is available from the BBC website here.

Ah, it's the time of the year for Christmas papercraft. This quaint little snow covered cottage is the work of designer Joshua Humphreys. I think he did a pretty good job on the textures. Since there are no instructions, building this becomes more of a Christmas cottage puzzle, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. ^^ The template for the cottage is located on Humphreys' deviantART page here.
Here is a nice magic wand papercraft that designer Marilyn Scott-Waters offers as a free download on her website. It is difficult to capture in a photograph, but both the star and the handle have a subtle Celtic knot pattern. The star is roughly 4 1/2" (11.4 cm) across. Without the handle the star would make a good Christmas tree ornament or even a topper for a smaller tree. Marilyn designed the wand in 2007 and it may be downloaded here. In addition to the color wand pictured above, there is a black and white template available that you can color yourself.
This pop-up Christmas card arrived at my place of work the other day. As a papercraft fan, it caught my eye. The card was mailed flat but with a gentle squeeze at each side it popped into the shape you see in the photo above. The company which produces this card (as well as several other pop-up cards and calendars) is Graphics3. Their designs can be seen at their website, http://www.graphics3inc.com/. Unfortunately there are no downloads of their products available. :(
